Postural Analysis
Understand your Postural Patterns and How to Work with Them
Postural Analysis
75-90 minute session
In this extended session, we will:
- Identify both structural and functional patterns in your body, and how they are impacting your movement.
- Consider areas of discomfort and how they relate to your postural patterns.
- Help you see and understand these imbalanced patterns, and give you specific ways of working with and correcting them.
Cost: $175
By the time we hit middle age, almost all of us have postural imbalances that are both structural and functional. These often show up as areas of tightness, discomfort, or injury in the body.
The tricky thing is, exercise – especially any kind of load-bearing/resistance training – will either reinforce these imbalances or work to restore balance. The difference lies in whether you’re conscious of your postural patterns or not.
You may be aware of your own patterns, especially if they’ve given you trouble. Often however, we focus on the area that’s giving us trouble and don’t see the larger pattern throughout other areas of the body.
The goal of a postural analysis session is to identify your postural patterns – both structural and functional – and how they may be impacting your freedom of movement, and to offer you suggestions for how to restore balance in the form of exercises and other self-care practices.
Your takeaways from this session will include a written report identifying the patterns, and both specific and generalized exercises and movement patterns that will help correct the imbalances, as well as a short, personalized video explaining the exercises.
Putting Knowledge Into Practice: Follow-up Session
In this follow-up to our initial session, we’ll take my recommendations for movements and exercises to balance your postural imbalances and go through them one by one, making sure you understand the objective of each exercise, how to modify it if necessary, and how to progress it as you feel ready and able. We’ll talk about how to translate these exercises into a gym environment, or to do them at home. We’ll also discuss ways of turning these exercises into movement habits, or a practice that’s sustainable and even enjoyable!
